Each vintage changes its blend to pay homage to Vicente Huidobro and his novel Altazor: “If I didn’t do at least one crazy thing a year, I’d go mad.” Ruby red with violet reflections. Expressive nose, red berries, graphite, and tobacco. Balanced palate, vibrant freshness, and crisp tannins.
Tasting notes
Paying homage to the expression of its terroir, Altazor is born, an exceptional wine known for its freshness, aromatic layers, balanced concentration, and complexity. The backbone of Altazor is Cabernet Sauvignon, which lends it the clear typicity and finesse of the Alto Maipo region. It has a deep purplish-red color with violet hues. On the nose, it already displays very complex tertiary aromas, the product of its evolution in the bottle, where notes of cedar, tobacco, and graphite appear, over a background of red fruits such as cassis and raspberries. Its aging in French oak barrels imparts delicate aromas of tobacco and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is ample and fresh. The mid-palate is full and concentrated, with ripe, complex, and firm tannins that provide structure and verticality. It is a wine with persistent red fruit flavors, juicy acidity, and a balanced, very full body. The contributions of the other varietals enhance the balance and freshness of the blend. The Carménère delivers red fruit and its unmistakable spicy notes. And the Carignan, with its small but fundamental contribution, adds its floral notes on the nose, but above all, its solid and vertical tannin structure, giving character and great persistence to the wine.Cask
It is done for each variety from the different valleys that make it up; and they are only brought together once the assembly is done. It undergoes careful aging in French oak barrels, 25% new and 75% second-use, with a capacity of 225 liters. Malolactic fermentation takes place there, followed by aging for 16 months. After this period, the blending is carried out and the wine is racked to a vat for subsequent bottling. In addition, it was bottle-aged for 18 months before being available for release.Valley
