MORANDE ED. LTDA SYRAH/CAB. SAUV
MORANDE ED. LTDA SYRAH/CAB. SAUV
The Syrah grapes come from Loncomilla in the Maule Valley, from a 63-year-old País vineyard grafted in 2005. The soils are clay-granitic[1] with low fertility, and the climate is dry and warm. The Cabernet Sauvignon, on the other hand, comes from our vineyard in San Bernardo in the Maipo Valley, with alluvial soils featuring a characteristic gravel horizon at depth. The climate is dry, cooled by breezes that circulate through the river valley. The grapes from both vineyards are hand-harvested in 10 kg crates. Vinification follows traditional Bordeaux methods. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah varieties are vinified separately, as is their aging in French and American oak barrels, respectively, for 16 months. After this aging period, the wines are blended in equal parts, with each barrel being individually sorted.
